Bahia Mar Boutique Hotel

Great hotel in beautiful Vilanculos. Rooms - very good and modern. Service - excellent and the hotel is an ethical employer. Location - you walk onto the beach; take your flip flops off to jump into a speedboat for trips- we saw humpback whales migrating, dugongs and hundreds of flamingos. Go to the local (massive) market, Raul took us via tuktuk. Quite an experience the most friendly place ever though. Lots of sustainability projects to visit, get involved with, donate to etc. Trips to the islands e.g. Benguerra = paradise.

This was a very lovely and pleasant hotel. Amazing services wonderful staff, very welcoming. The rooms are clean and beautiful, the wifi works very well, the food is amazing and the hotel has beautiful grounds especially the area overlooking the Indian ocean.

A beautiful hotel with the highlight of our trip being the most friendly and helpful staff. The rooms were neat and modern, sea view suites having a clear view with your own balcony. The only issue is the many steps you have to climb if you would like to go to the pool or restaurant. The presidential suite is worthy of staying in as it is spacious and has everything you need in it however, it lacks privacy as while we were in it housekeepers would come and get there supplies as well as garden staff watering the garden outside the windows in the morning therefore you’d have to keep your curtains closed most of the time. The food and cocktails were good however, the dinner menu lacks variety and therefore, when staying there for 6 nights with dinner included we were short of options. A major setback for us was that a large amount of money was stolen from our safe and the only help we were given was to check the cameras in which they found nothing. Unfortunately we could not enjoy our holiday at Bahia Mar the way we wanted to. Advice from us would be NOT to use the safes and if you do, prepare for them not to take any responsibility if there is a case of theft.

While visiting South Africa, we took a side trip to Vilanculos and stayed at Bahia Mar for 3 nights. Wow, did we get lucky! The accommodations, property, and staff are top notch. We stayed in a lovely and private garden suite with everything needed. Lovely breakfast was included. We ate at the restaurant every night for dinner as well. Everything was delicious. One night there was live entertainment from a local band who we very talented and fun. We visited the Spa on site for massages and facial. Very professional and friendly staff. The staff helped arrange a day trip to visit the off islands which included 2 islands, snorkeling, and lunch. Highly recommend taking a boat trip like this. Overall, we absolutely loved Bahia Mar. The warmth and kindness of all the staff made us feel like family

In recent years, whenever I go to Vilankulo I stay at Bahia Mar, which is a great place, with good services, super attentive staff. However, this time two situations occurred: at 7:00 pm I went out to meet some friends and, when I returned at 9:00 pm the room was suffocated with insecticide. The rooms have mosquito nets, so I didn't need baygon as much. I inhaled, and I have a cold. The second observation has to do with the delay in breakfast. For a vacation stay, we can wait, but when we are on a business trip, time counts a lot. It took us over 30 minutes to have an omelet and the restaurant had no more than 4 people

Had a great 5 days stay at this hotel. We were staying in the luxury beach suites. Great room with kitchen, living area, big kingsize bed and nice bath room with shower and bath. Also personal plunge pool and ofcourse AC. When you open the curtains in the morning you can witness the sunrise over the Indian Ocean from your bed. What a special experience. Everything was very clean and the staff was very nice. There is also a general pool with a bar and beds and they serve nice food. You can go with a tuk tuk from hotel to the Spar in town to get some groceries and drinks. Outside the hotel there is not much to see so we stayed in most of the time but we did make some excursions by boat.
